02 / What we do

Installation, servicing & repair

One team for the whole life of your system, specified properly, installed neatly, and maintained so it stays efficient for years.

Installation

Wall-mounted splits and multi-room systems for homes, offices, shops and workspaces, designed around the space and how you use it. A free survey, a fixed written quote, then a clean, certified install, most single rooms are done in a day.

Repair

Not cooling, leaking, tripping or making noise? We diagnose the fault, explain it in plain English, and fix it with a clear price before any work starts, on systems from any installer.

Servicing & maintenance

An annual service keeps your air clean, your energy bills down and your warranty valid. Unmaintained systems typically lose around 5% efficiency every year. We'll remind you when it's due.

04 / Built for Gloucestershire

Gloucestershire properties deserve a considered install

Cheltenham townhouses, Gloucester family homes, Cotswold stone cottages, listed buildings, barn conversions and new-builds. Gloucestershire is not a one-size-fits-all county, and air conditioning here shouldn't be either. We design discreet installations that keep the character of your property intact: sensible unit positions, tidy routes for pipework, and outdoor units placed where they won't be seen or heard.

At Gloucestershire AirCon we fit modern air-to-air heat pump systems, so the same discreet unit that cools your bedroom in a heatwave warms it efficiently in January.

Planning made simple. Since May 2025, heat-pump air conditioning can often be installed under permitted development, but conservation areas and listed buildings still carry restrictions, and cooling-only units still need planning consent. We check all of this for you at the survey stage.

06 / FAQs

Air conditioning FAQs

Do I need an outside-facing wall?
Every split system needs an outdoor condenser unit, and the simplest installs put the indoor unit on an external wall so pipework runs straight through. But internal-wall installations are absolutely possible. They just need a little more pipework planning, which we design at the survey. The outdoor unit goes in a ventilated spot with clearance, positioned away from bedrooms and neighbours.
How many indoor wall units can connect to one outside unit?
Typically two to five indoor units can run from a single outdoor unit on a multi-split system, depending on capacity, with each room independently controlled. It's also possible to size the outdoor unit with headroom now and add indoor units later as your needs grow.
Will it heat my home in winter too?
Yes. Modern units are air-to-air heat pumps: the same system that cools in July heats efficiently in January, often at a lower running cost than plug-in electric heaters. One discreet unit, comfortable all year.
How noisy are they?
Far quieter than most people expect. Modern wall-mounted indoor units run between roughly 19 and 41 dB(A) depending on model and fan speed. For context, 20 dB is rustling leaves and 40 dB is a quiet library. We specify quieter models for bedrooms as standard.
Do I need planning permission?
Often not. Since May 2025, heat-pump air conditioning units within size limits can usually be installed on houses under permitted development rights. Restrictions still apply for listed buildings and conservation areas, which are common across Gloucestershire, and cooling-only condensers still require planning consent. We assess exactly what applies to your property at the free survey.
How often should it be serviced?
Once a year for most homes. A neglected system typically loses around 5% efficiency each year and can invalidate its warranty. An annual service keeps air filters clean, running costs down and the manufacturer's guarantee intact. Typical market rate is £70 to £120 per unit.
Do you work on commercial properties as well as homes?
Yes. Alongside domestic installations we design, install and maintain systems for offices, shops, salons, cafes and small commercial units across Gloucestershire. Mention the property type when you enquire and we will arrange the right survey.
Which areas do you cover?
All of Gloucestershire. We install, service and repair air conditioning in Gloucester, Cheltenham, Stroud, Cirencester, Tewkesbury and the Cotswold towns and villages between. If you are close by but not listed, ask us anyway. We can usually help.
How long does installation take?
A single-room installation is usually completed in a day. Multi-room systems typically take two to three days depending on pipework runs. We confirm the schedule in your fixed quote, and we leave your home as tidy as we found it.
